Artist Eric Messinger brings the world of giants to the pages of his first coloring book. The giants are pretty life like and as you add your own colors they can start to pop off the pages. The first part of the book includes some instruction on shading, color combinations, marker usage as well as information on Eric and how he is an Artistic Bard. Basically he is a teller of stories through his art. The magic color wheel is pretty awesome. It's not your typical color wheel with just the colors laid out. It has a wonderful giant figure and tree wrapped around it. It's totally a fantasy color wheel. Along with the instructions Eric talks about Giants and their gear being any color you want them to be. So get creative and choose your own color themes.
Most of the book is coloring pages. Some of the pages include idea pallets and an example of how it could turn out. Plus there are other pages where Eric showcases other artists who have completed a coloring page, super cool an inspiring.
When it comes to pulling a page out you can thank the publisher. They have gone with an easy pull out page style. Plus each page only has one coloring side. The back of each page includes a quote.
Overall, this coloring book blew me away. The lines are strong and each page had me dreaming up my own ideas for color. Plus I really loved the instruction that Eric provides for both the novice and intermediate colorist. I'm looking forward to more art by Eric Messinger.
